brickRobotics is a FUN and educational camp that builds and programs bots for a skill levels 5 years of age and older. We offer LEGO® WeDo 2.0 Robotics, LEGO® EV3 GUI (Graphical User Interface)-based programming, LEGO® EV3 robotics with Java-based programming, and LEGO® EV3 robotics with Python-based programming.

The goal of these EV3-based courses is to design, build, and program your own LEGO® EV3 robot.

In the GUI-based course, students will use the LEGO® MINDSTORMS Education EV3 software to build and program their robots. This involves learning the software’s program-building blocks, including Action, Sensor, Flow, Data Operation, and Advanced Blocks. This course is recommended for those relatively new to programming.

Some familiarity with programming is recommended for both the Java and Python courses.

In the Python-based course, students will learn basic syntax, variable types, operators, control flow, lists, tuples, dictionaries, sets, functions, file I/O, modules, objects/classes, iterators, dates, and exceptions. In addition, they will learn how to use the libraries required to control their EV3 robot.

In the Java-based course, students will learn the basics of Java, including: classes/objects, methods, variables, operators, control flow statements, strings, numbers, generics, inheritance, interfaces, and exceptions. Also, they will learn how to use the libraries required to control their EV3 robot.

LEGO® WeDo 2.0

Commonly used for ages 5-8, this kit and curriculum involves building and programming simple single-motor robots used to model and solve problems. The following represent the goals of the curriculum:

1. Asking questions and solving problems

2. Use models

3. Design prototypes

4. Investigate

5. Analyze and interpret data

6. Utilize computational thinking

7. Develop arguments from evidence

8. Acquiring, evaluating, and communicating information

Additionally, students will gain exposure to computation thinking principles, including:

1. Logical reasoning

2. Looking for patterns

3. Organizing and analyzing data

4. Modeling and simulations

5. Testing models and ideas with computer assistance

6. Using algorithms for action sequencing

Stop Motion Film

Stop Motion Film is a brickFILM camp for all skill levels of all ages. The camp will explore both beginner and advanced techniques used by experienced film makers.

MOCs and Architecture

The MOCs and Architecture camp will help campers acquire techniques for creating great builds. Building MOCs (My Own Creation) and Architecture buildings lead to enhancing creativity and strengthening project management skills.
